Timeline for this Episode

  • 1905 Jan 2-9 - Congress of the Skopje revolutionary district by the Knyuazhevo village, Kratov. A regional committee was elected.

  • 1905 Jan 17th - Mar 10th - Press workers go on strike with partial success.

  • 1905 Jan 22nd - Law protecting women and children’s labour in factory. Beginning of the modernizing labor laws. A few months later a law is also passed to support factories.

  • 1905 Feb 23rd - A contract for sailing and trade between Bulgaria and Russia. Petersburg refutes its rights of capitulation from the Berlin treaty.

  • 1905 Feb 25th - The first official tobacco company and first cartel, St Nikola, is registered which included 40 out of the 58 tobacco factories.

  • 1905 Mar 25th - A detachment of 300 Greek (andarti?) led by Georgios Tsontos sets fire to the village of Zagorichane in the Kostur region and massacres 72 Bulgarians who refused to denounce the Exarchate and join the Patriarchate.

  • 1905 Apr 7th - Yane Sandanski’s detachment defeats the officer brotherhoods’. There were 9 victims.

  • 1905 April 7-10th - Battle of Tsushima Straights shocks the world.

  • 1905 Apr 15-17th - “Easter gathering” of the teachers from the social-democratic party. They decide to leave the teachers’ union under pressure from the central committee of БРСДП and found the Teachers’ Social-Democratic Organization.

  • 1905 June 1-4th - Emergency congress of the Serres revolutionary district.

  • 1905 June 10-30th and Aug - Congress of the Salonica revolutionary district.

  • 1905 July 3rd - Bulgarian-Serbian customs treaty.

  • 1905 Aug - Congress of the Struma revolutionary district at the Ograzhden mountain.

  • 1905 Oct - Congress of the Internal Org at the Rila monastery. Their name is changed to Macedonian-Odrin Revolutionary Organization (ВМРО).
